Director, Event Operations

What we’re looking for:

The Director of  Event Operations for Superfly will manage and produce major live events and festivals. The ideal candidate for this role is an experienced, well-rounded events person who is resourceful and possesses a strong production, operations, and experiential marketing background. This role will report to the EVP of Event Operations, and will primarily work on Superfly festival properties including Outside Lands, Colossal Clusterfest, Lost Lake, and Bonnaroo. We are looking for someone who knows how to lead, delegate, and manage people; who knows how to keep staff energized, inspired and focused. This person demonstrates leadership, professionalism and confidence when working with our clients, our team, and our event partners, including building owners, site managers, public officials, law enforcement and vendors.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Work closely with Event Operations team in producing, planning and executing Superfly events and activations
  • Collaborate with the creative team to create and manage production, operations & site operations budgets for new business
  • Research and secure site and venue locations, create venue site plans
  • Coordinate communication between all production & operations departments pre-event and during event
  • Serve as direct liaison of event to Programming and Creative Production departments
  • Work directly with outside agencies on all permitting
  • Hire vendors and staff using previous contacts and experience
  • Serve as the primary project manager for all production and operations vendors and staff
  • Oversee contracts, insurance, payments and vendor riders related to contract vendors
  • Assist with artist production advances as needed
  • Oversee the creation of project schedule, event build, show, and load out schedule
  • Troubleshoot any issues onsite related to the event’s production and operational elements
  • Research new event production industry initiatives, techniques and elements that can be incorporated in all properties
  • Work with the Superfly team to develop best production scenarios, create efficiencies in costs and procedures, and help present options to clients or partners when needed
  • Manage the Manager of Event Operations and provide mentorship support to coordinators
  • This role will include travel up to 35% of the time

Your experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience executing large‐scale events; festival experience is preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working directly with corporate clients
  • Proficiency in Excel, Powerpoint, Word, and Google Apps for business; Filemaker, AutoCAD and Vectorworks preferred, but not required
  • Comprehensive technical knowledge of event production components including audio-visual, staging, lighting, labor coordination (union and non-union), engineering
  • Managing site operations elements for a four-wall event including but not limited to temporary power & internet, temporary infrastructure, concessions setup, heavy equipment inventory & site labor management
